In 1995 Cargill took a minority stake in Agrograin, a leading Hungarian grain, oilseeds and protein trading company with 21-grain storage locations including two river ports on the Danube (Dunaföldvár and Mohács).
In 2007 Cargill acquired 100% shares of Agrograin, turning a successful 12-year partnership into a single Cargill in Hungary.
In June 2009 Agrograin officially changed its name. Now operating as “Cargill,” this “old – new” company is the leader in providing unique solutions to Central European Agrifood industries. We use our local knowledge, infrastructure, global connections and expertise in supply chain management, risk management, food safety, and inventory management to serve our customers specific needs and through collaboration help them succeed.
In Hungary our activities include the domestic and export trade of crops and agricultural commodities, crop input distribution, and the import trade of soybeans and their co-products.
The company’s annual sales volume is approximately two million metric tons. We actively use the Chicago Board of Trade and the Commodity Section of Budapest Stock Exchange for limiting the trading risk and for the pricing of both our import and export contracts.
We are proud of our company’s excellent reputation developed over several years. Our partners recognise the value we bring through our large scale transport capacity, stable financial background, commitment to providing innovative financial solutions and reliability in the execution of our contractual obligations.
